If you are thinking about becoming a yoga teacher, the first question is usually a simple one: how much will it cost? The honest answer is that tuition is only one line in your budget. Where you train, how long you stay, and what is included all change the real number.
This guide walks you through the full picture for a 200-hour yoga teacher training in Jamaica, using our own program at the YAI Wellness Oasis as the example, so you can plan with clear eyes and no surprises.
The short answer
At Yoga Angels International, tuition for the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training is $3,000 USD, which works out to about $15 per hour of training. Accommodation, meals and travel are planned separately.
For context, Yoga Alliance notes that schools set their own tuition, which usually ranges from about $1,500 to $5,000 or more, depending on program length, location and format (Yoga Alliance). A 200-hour training at a large US studio chain, for example, is listed at $3,099 (CorePower Yoga).

What your tuition covers
Your tuition pays for the training itself: the teaching, the practice, the guidance and the assessment that leads to your certificate. With Yoga Angels, it also includes:
- The full 200-hour training, taught over six weeks
- Lifetime membership with free refresher courses, so you can come back and deepen your teaching for years
- A $250 referral reward when you bring a friend into the program
We have not raised our training price since the year 2000. Teaching has been our work since 1997, and we want the training to stay within reach of people who feel the call.
What to budget for separately
This is where most people get caught out. Before you commit to any training, in Jamaica or anywhere else, make a list of these costs:
- Accommodation and meals. At Yoga Angels these are not part of tuition. On-site accommodation is available at the Oasis and is arranged separately, so ask about the options on your discovery call.
- Flights and local travel. This depends entirely on where you are coming from. Book early if you can.
- Yoga Alliance registration (optional). After graduating, many teachers register with Yoga Alliance. Their current fees are a one-time $50 application fee and a $65 annual membership fee (Yoga Alliance).
- Books, a good mat and props. Most students already own some of these.
- Time away from work. For an in-person immersion, this is often the biggest hidden cost, so plan it early.
Ways to bring the cost down
A training should be a stretch, not a strain. These options are available for the 200-hour program:
- Early Bird: $250 off when you sign up 4 weeks before the training date.
- Partial scholarship: $500 off with a scholarship request letter.
- Work trade: up to 50% off in exchange for expertise that helps Yoga Angels grow. Email [email protected] with the subject line "Work Trade Request" and your CV.
- Instalments: tuition can be spread across payments instead of paid all at once. Ask us for the current payment plan.
Why train in Jamaica?
Cheaper tuition is easy to find, especially online. What you are really choosing is the place where you will spend six weeks transforming your practice. At the YAI Wellness Oasis in Pondside, Yallahs, St. Thomas, you train by the sea, away from the noise of everyday life, inside a community that has been teaching yoga since 1997.
For many students, the immersion is the point: you live the practice every day instead of fitting it around a busy week. If that is not possible for you right now, ask us about other ways to train.
How to plan your budget in 5 steps
- Choose your cohort. The next 200-hour training runs November 9 – December 20, 2026.
- Write down tuition, then add accommodation, meals and travel.
- Check which savings apply to you: Early Bird, scholarship or work trade.
- Ask about a payment plan that fits your income.
- Book a free discovery call and get every number in writing before you commit.
